“I think this journal will be disadvantageous for me, for I spend my time now like a spider spinning my own entrails.” -Mary Bokin Chesnut
A journal kept by the party secretary that records the groups activities, quests, monsters encountered, and spoils collected. Each log is written in common and is updated daily. Each year the secretary or party leader must turn in their adventurer’s log to the local guild in exchange for a blank log. The logs are used to verify that the party adheres to contracts or writs of intent.
Only the barest amount of information is usually contained in these journals, usually written in the most terse language possible. Even so, if found these small black books can contain insights into the demise of failed adventuring parties.
Since adventurer log’s eventually become public record, many adventurers keep separate personal journals as well.
